
BY TRAIN
Matera is connected to the city of Bari (60 km) by the railway company Ferrovie Appulo Lucane. The Ferrovie Appulo Lucane railway station in Bari is next to the Ferrovie dello Stato situated in Piazza Aldo Moro.

If you get off near the closed central station, take via Roma and walk down to Piazza Vittorio Veneto; then take via San Biagio, turn right into via San Rocco; turn right again and go past a little fountain; walk down via San Giovanni Vecchio. You will get to the hotel after a 5 minute walk.

BY COACH
Several coach companies serve the town of Matera such as: Marino (www.marinobus.it) that leaves from Matera (coach stop at the station Villalongo) and goes to Milan, Ancona, Bologna, Chianciano, Fiuggi, Naples, Novara, Parma, Reggio Emilia, Sassuolo and Urbino. Marozzi (www.marozzivt.it) and Liscio (www.autolineeliscio.it) coach companies both serve the cities of Rome, Florence, Pisa and Siena.

Take via Roma and walk until piazza Vittorio Veneto; then take via San Biagio, turn right and take via san Rocco; turn right again and go past a little fountain; walk down via San Giovanni Vecchio. You’ll arrive at the hotel after five minutes’ walk.
BY PLANE
If you arrive at the airport, you can take Pugliairbus shuttle bus service. Get off at the central station in Matera in Piazza Matteotti. Walk down via Roma until you reach Piazza Vittorio Veneto; then take via San Biagio, turn right into via San Rocco; turn right again and go past a little fountain; walk down via San Giovanni Vecchio. You’ll be at the hotel after a five minute’s walk.

BY CAR:
FROM THE THYRRENIAN COAST
Take the highway Salerno - Reggio Calabria, take the exit of Sicignano and follow the directions to Potenza. Then, take the road to Metaponto (SS 407 "Basentana"). Take the exit of Matera near Ferrandina Scalo.
FROM THE ADRIATIC COAST
Take the motorway Bologna-Taranto and exit at Bari Nord. Follow the direction to the “zona industriale” (industrial area) towards Altamura-Matera; first, take the main road SS 96 and then the SS 99, where construction work is underway to build a four-lane road.
FROM CALABRIA AND SICILY
Motorway Reggio Calabria-Salerno. Take the exit to Sibari and drive along the main road SS 106 Jonica towards Taranto. When you are close to Metaponto, take the exit for Matera.
FROM SALENTO
The best way to reach Matera is to go past Brindisi and Taranto; then take the main road SS 106 Jonica and, when you are near Metaponto, take the exit to Matera.
